front cover of a college magazine. The cover has a main sell, subheadings a masthead and a picture of a man travelling. The student is pictured with a map of the world, which instantly informs the reader that the main percentage of the college study geography. The masthead is in a serif typeface, making the title easy to read and giving the impression it has been hand written. The subheading and main sell is in sans serif, making the text clear to read. The layout is unbalanced, making most the the features on the right side of the cover. Flat plan.
The flat plan of the front cover of the college magazine gives a clear indication on how i want to layout to look like. I have used a sans serif typeface for the masthead, which makes a clear title, easy to read and in personal. This suits the purpose of the magazine. I have taken a close-up of a stereotypical trendy teenager which will grasp the students attention and read the magazine. The colour scheme is purple and purple, which will make the body text stand out from the background of the picture. I took a close-up to show trust and intimacy between the students of the college. As the model doesn't mind having a personal picture on the magazine. I will use serif type face on two of the subheadings to enhance a features and to balance out the layout. Plus the reader will be visually stimulated by the dynamic use of fonts which will lure them into reading more.

Magazine cover.
This is the front cover of the magazine. The students facial expression and appearance gives out a lot of attitude. The model has been made to look creative and rebellious, to expose the art department of Young talent and the fight to beat convention. The cover will attract students as the magazine layout and image create an appearance of a fashion magazine. The College magazine has been made to look appealing for students from the age of 16 - 22 yrs old. Because the College has a thriving arts department the magazine has chose to enhance this buy making the student edgy with style. The painted brick wall in the background is used a lot in music photo shoots. This makes the student appear mature and self assured, as the viewer will be comparing the image to an album cover. This is a successful as the front cover of a college magazine has became cool and fashionable, and features articles which art students would want to know more about.
Contents page.
The contents page was intended to be simple and informative. The colour of the background is the same colour of the students lipstick, featured on the front cover of the magazine. This gives a sense of passion and romance to the college magazine as an underlining subtle message. As the students are finding their sexuality throughout college. The white writing connects with the white brick background, in the picture on the front cover. Therefore there is a Constant colour scheme which will alter further on in the magazine. I have used a sans serif typeface for the body text and serif the the masthead. I did this for the following reasons; serif font gives the impression to the reader that the text has been hand written. The contrast in fonts make the masthead stand out from the body text. I used the sans serif for the body text to make the content clear and factual. I would of liked to add visual stimuli's which connected with the features in the magazine, but we did not have enough time, to go into detail in this task.Monday, 19 October 2009
Flat plan.

This is my flat plan of my contents page. I designed it so that my contents page will look neat and simple. I will make a make a variety of typefaces to make the page more interesting. The same colour scheme of the front cover will be will be used on the contents page. Giving a connection between the two pages. The magazine is factual; informing students of what is happening around the college. Therefore a simple layout will make it clear to the intended readers what each feature is and when, the simplicity will make it easier for the readers to remember. The bold masthead draws the readers attention to the content of the magazine.

Picture of student.
Picture of student.
This pictures has plenty of attitude, the model is looking at the camera but not holding a extra - diegetic gaze. This adds to the camera as the model is to superior to look directly at the viewer. The models body language is relaxed and casual as i take the students picture, this emits self assurance as she is probably used having her picture taken. Her face is slightly to the side, so the viewer can see her face more clearly as the fringe is covering the other side. The student will want to read the college magazine, as the picture give a clear indication that the intended reader is of the age of a student.
